What’s got me all pissed off today is a post by Dennis Prager, a radio talk show host who thinks he’s trapped torture opponents between accepting the use of torture and admitting that they place ideology above American lives.

Fridays in Jerusalem

Unknown to most of my friends is the fact that, in addition to Computer Science, I also majored in Political Science while at U.C. Berkeley. I was never interested in pursuing a career in the field, but I just loved politics — and still do — so much that I wanted to take in all I could about the subject. I think that all good stories teach people something about the world around them, and politics is an obvious way to do that, if you can do it well.

Review: Valkyria Chronicles

Insightful and compelling gameplay, but sorely lacking the story department. This game could have been great, but instead it boils down to a series of battles — some with unforgivably terrible design — fought to further a story that I can’t care about.

Génocidaire

Génocidaire is a short story hyper-focused on one family’s sudden awareness of the danger facing their lives and their attempt to escape Rwanda. The word génocidaire is defined as a person who is involved in a genocide; its English cognate would be “genocider,” if that were a word. The title applies in two ways: first, that the victims are génocidaires in that they too are involved in a genocide, and second, the story is also about the making of the titular entity.
